A film crew visits Jesson's

Jillian and Ed were in school filming today - for the Church of England. The film is "a day in the life of a church school"  Some pictures from the day:

6R practising their class assembly

It will be about Love

Filming in 2W. Children studying the Chinese New Year

The Bloglady was interviewed

...and so were some children.
Other aspects of school life included - Key Stage 2 assembly, 2S's RE lesson, school dinners, and little clips around the place.

We were chosen from a shortlist of 60 schools from across the whole country!

The film will be sent to every Diocese for Education Sunday (Feb 16th) We'll post a link when it's available. It will be on the Church of England's website, Youtube channel, plus their Facebook page and Twitter!

What a great honour. (They were supposed to leave at 11.00 and left at 2.20 because they found so many good things to film!)

Very proud Bloglady!

Painting with Scissors

The painter Henri Matisse was once too ill to paint. So he developed a method of  "painting" with scissors - cutting things out and sticking, rather than painting.
Miss Garratt reports:

"Here are 4G 'Painting with Scissors' in the style of Henri Matisse.

The children used cool and warm colours to cut out positive and negative free form shapes.

They excelled in their team work...
... and it was a real pleasure to watch them get creative. "

Reception in the ICT Suite

Reception children went over to the ICT Suite in the main school building today.

It's one of their favourite lessons

Today, the aim was to use Paint to colour in a mask

Choosing the colour and the pattern..

...can lead to lots of different effects.

They were very proud of the results

The view over the whole room

Some proud children

Key Stage one Assembly starts with a prayer

We learnt a new song, and sang one of our favourite ones too

Then it was time for some children to be called out

Who will be next?

All of these children got a green certificate today

And someone got a blue!
Well done to everyone, and if you didn't get one today - keep trying!

Playground 2

Yesterday we saw the older girls
Now for the boys. Running is popular
 And cricket

There's not much football today, as it's one of the  Penalty Shootout Days
Look at that great bowling action behind Mr Shackleton
Another game of cricket - we're getting ready for the summer!
All too soon it's time to line up quietly and go back to work

Some children are more pleased about that than others!

Living History!

Governor Mrs Maggie Clift came to tell Year 6 about the Second World War.

She brought lots of artefacts from the war. This was her father's Naval Hat

And this is a list from the Air Raid Patrol Warden. It has a list of all the people in her street. Mrs Clift is listed in red because she was only two years old at the time and so the Warden would be expected to take special care to look for her if there was a bombing raid.

The
children were fascinated. Here they are all looking back to the display on their wall, which Mrs Clift is talking about.

The display  referred to above.
The children were very lucky to have someone with real life experience to talk to them. We hope she comes again. She tells the stories so well!
