The circus comes to town again

As promised, more photos from the Foundation production.

First, in the dressing room, the children get into costumes
Then they line up in order, ready to go
The opening dancers get ready to rumble!
Fire eating - a first for Jesson's!
Keeping fit with the strongmen (and women)
Wow, some of them were lifting a ton!
Nellie the elephant gets her costume ready

"I'm worried, because there seems to be a microphone sticking out of the side of my head!!!!"
One of Nellie's friends
A blogseye view of the stage

And sorry, audience, but the pictures of you didn't really come out. It was too dark!

Displays, and teachers playing hockey

During term time, there's so much going on that you don't see some of our displays.

Stained glass windows in  Year 5 (with Dennis the bus in the background)

Year 4 work based on the artist Henri Matisse
You saw the Viking boats being made, now here's the display
They are 3D but the picture doesn't show it well
A year 2 display about books and how to understand them

Year 6 display based on Henry Moore .

Below, the staff play a game of hockey at our PE training.
Some of them were quite competitive

Miss Loverock and Miss Robb battle over the ball.
(Is Mrs Maddison trying to trip up Miss Loverock? Actually, no, but the picture makes it look like it!)

So what did they do?

It was too cold and wet for Friday's planned Sports Day, so instead the children played with parachutes in the Large Hall.

 Lots of opportunities for teamwork....

... and we've rearranged the main event for June 6th.
Let's hope the weather is better by then.

Fractions

Many people remember learning about fractions at school, and it was hard work.
Not so for Miss Glover's maths group (in Year 3)

You can see from these pictures that, after some consideration, fractions are FUN!!!!

More pictures throughout the week:
  • what did Year 5/6 do when their Sports Day was cancelled? (And this was the right decision - it was bitterly cold - and it rained!)
  • more pictures from "the Circus", including Nellie the Elephant
  • classical artists
  • and whatever else the Bloglady can find!

Sports Day announcement

Year 5/6 Sports Day at the Dell today
has been cancelled.
The weather is just too cold and damp.
We will try to rearrange and let you know the new date as soon as possible.
Sorry for any inconvenience.

The circus comes to town

It was the Foundation Concert today:

The clowns wait patiently for their turn

Friends of Nellie the Elephant

The hula group

A Blog's-eye view of the stage

The hula group demonstrate their skills....

...in a blur of movement

The dancing clowns

The fire eaters sit with Miss Nuttall - they've just finished their bit.
This was a really lovely production - some of the children are just three years old, and the oldest are five.
We had singing, dancing, dialogue, hula-hooping, acrobatics and all-round enthusiasm.
The Bloglady was indeed proud

Trustees Meeting - and an exciting event

Our trustees held their termly meeting this morning

But, while they did , the children filed excitedly into the hall

Miss Anslow and Mr Holmes make sure the powerpoint is right, while Mr Hayward does a sound check
There's always someone who wants to pose for a blog picture
Mr Shackleton checks there's room for everyone
Half the school  is seated, waiting for.....

...the Foundation production - our very youngest children were having their dress rehearsal today.

But if you want to see pictures, you'll have to wait until Thursday! We're not giving away any secrets yet!!!!

And sorry, but half way through this post, the blog suddenly stopped letting me enlarge pictures. Hooray :(
