A day in the life of Jesson's. Thursday 29th March 2012

Thursday 29th March. Just another day at Jesson's. Let's look what's happening.
Above, we have Year 3 trying out the penny farthing in Coventry's Transport Museum

For the first time, we have a team in the local girls' football league. A 3-0 victory! Well done girls!

Below, what's this? Lunchtime. A queue of children...
...waiting to enter a competition organised by the School Council
A penalty shoot out with Mr Seager in goal. This is an action shot Well saved Mr Seager
The Reception children love playing in the sunshiine
Even if you hurt your elbow, a kind member of staff will look after you

Inside the dining hall there's a good variety of food on offer. Burgers, cheese pie, fish goujons, chilli con carne, jacket potato. We regularly have halal meat available for thsoe who want it too.
Nursery children were very excited by their special visitors, farmers Robin and Vicki and one of their lambs.
It was fun feeding

Stroking was even more fun

We asked lots of questions too.

Ingestre Hall recording weekend

Friday night: Mr Jackson and Mr Hayward pause for a break while setting up the equipment
The front of the drums have to come off so the microphones can be put in
Careful with that piano....

Saturday morning at 7 am. The mist is just lifting (View from the bedroom window)
Mrs Roden talks to John, who isn't happy with the sound levels
Taking a break in the side room
Mr Kimberley does some quick practice
Jubilate come back in to join Fusion
Getting ready to record the next Jubilate song
The view from the conductor's spot

Even with the demon goalie, the bloglady's team won the football  match. Sorry Mr Seager, but 6-4 is a clear victory.

There was time for fun before the disco started
Sorry, the disco pictures were too blurred!!!!!  The children moving too fast, not the bloglady - not after the 50 minutes of football!!!

New Games

We've had some new playground equipment. Here the bloglady tries out a throwing game.

This picture took a long time to take because she kept missing (ahem!)

A Eurofighter went over school on Friday

Sunflowers and Symphony Hall

Some of our children went to perform at Birmingham's Symphony Hall at the weekend

Here are a few pictures - Thanks Mrs Bramble!

It was an excellent day, apparently. It certainly looks that way.

These sunflowers were done by children in Year 2. Yes, Year 2. Aren't they amazing?

A visit to Blists Hill results in some homemade candles

Year 5 went to Blists Hill, which is near Ironbridge.

Looks a bit like the Black Country Museum doesn't it?

They found time to chat with the local bobby...

... and to visit the local chapel.

Writing with quill pens proved challenging

They really enjoyed the candle workshop
Here are the finished results
We had hoped they might make Mothers' Day presents, but most children seemed to want to keep theirs!

A Holi Assembly and a Greek workshop

Class 3A told us all about the colourful Hindu festival of Holi in their class assembly

Then Year 3 had a drama workshop based on Greek mythology
You might see some of this in their production of Troy Story
It looks like fun!
Other Year groups will get some workshops later in the year, in case you were wondering

Dudley Schools Cross Country Championships

Saturday morning and the start of the Cross Country Championships at Baggeridge Park. Above, a general view of the scene

Unfortunately I couldn't get any pictures of the girls race, but here are some moments from the boys race

This is Ben making his bid for the lead
Other members of the team finish strongly

 Where did you come, Ben?
Post race, the teams share their experiences
 The prize giving
 The medal (gold)
 The teams
Thanks to Miss Robb and Miss Johnstone for organising the teams, and to supporters Mr Seager and Mrs Roberts. Well done to the parents too - this was the best number of supporters we've had for many years
