Victorians, and "that" seating again!

Governor Mrs Clift brought in some Victorian artefacts for the children to look at.
The children were fascinated by what she told them about Victorian life.

Old Photos - imagine if the blog was full of these!

Imagine warming this iron in the fire before doing the ironing!

Washday was much harder then too

Think I prefer my Superman pyjamas to this!

The children try out the seating for the first time

The seating revealed

And it's finished. Our fancy new seating gets its unveiling this morning.
The staff look on in wonder!
We are shown how to operate it

Going for a closer inspection while the Bloglady looks on

Mr Shackleton, Mr Mitchell, Mr Jackson and Mrs George try it out for themselves.

We are all delighted with the result! Most exciting!

The children tried it out this afternoon - more pictures tomorrow, plus final ones from Open Day, and pictures from Y4's trip to Worcester Cathedral.

Thanks to Mr Welch for the photographs, but not from the Bloglady who doesn't like to be on the pictures!!!!!!

Seating, climbing frames and crafts

The seating men were getting on well with their job in the hall, but...

...they paused to pose for the blog. (Of course!)

Over the road, things lie ready to be installed in the Nursery playground
It was noisy work!

And these things are ready for the Reception playground

By lunchtime, the seating looked like this
Some normal activities were going ahead, though. Here's the craft group decorating plant pots
And some salt dough cookies they made earlier

A strange lunchtime - and later

Something strange is happening.

Years 3 and 4 seem to be eating their packed lunches in a Year 1 classroom...

.... it looks like fun....

 ...but what is going on?

Chips? On a Monday? We're only allowed to have them once a week - usually on Fridays. Hmmmm......

And what's happened to the plates? We seem to be at McJesson's.....

What's happening? Things just don't seem right?

And hang on, we're not even in the Large Hall. Surely this is the Small Hall, where we have Working Together?

Let's have a look in the Large Hall. Seems to be covered in parts of something.

Yes, it's the start of our new tiered seating

This is the Hall at lunchtime, and that's why the dinners have had to move elsewhere for a few days

By hometime, the seating is beginning to take shape (I hope, says the Bloglady)

And after school, Key Stage 1 staff try to dodge the camera while pondering how to practise "A Stable Story" without a hall to do it in.
Watch this space for further updates.
Something was happening over in the Foundation block too.
But more of that tomorrow.....

Jubilate's first gig this year

Jubilate  performed at the 60th Anniversary of the Schools Band Association in Birmingham. They were the only choir.

The venue was beautiful. This was the dressing room

Getting ready. Note the Jesson's carrier bag. Each child has one with all the costume in. Mrs Stone is in charge of making sure everyone has the right things in the right size. Not an easy job!

The boys, looking very smart! A credit to Jesson's

The musicians with the organiser. The programme had an introduction written by Prince Charles

Mrs Roden, in fierce mode, gives a last minute briefing.

Just getting ready to go on stage. No photographs of the performance, but the children got the loudest cheers of the night and also lots of whistles (and no, it wasn't our parents - none of them was there).

Walking back to the coach through the darkness in torrential rain. We were back very late.
In the pouring rain, Mrs Roden forgets which way up to hold the music! Well, it was a very stressful exciting evening.

Well done Jubilate - we're very proud of you. What a fantastic experience!
And thankyou too, to the teachers who gave up a Saturday night! (They enjoyed it though!)

Open Day part 3 Pots, necklaces and weights

Egyptian pots from Year 4

Egyptian Jewellery

Using a Newton force meter to investigate whether things "weigh " more in water

More from Open Day - two bears, and a box of darkness

Open Day continued......

The Nursery staff came as characters from Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

Making bears with modelling dough - not just the grown ups who had the fun!

Meanwhile, in Year 1, they were trying to make a box of darkness!

This was a very systematic way of making sure the light wouldn't get in.

Lots of different ways to do the task
A finished box

More to come over the weekend.

Plus, news just in : the number of times this blog has been viewed since it stated in July 2011 has reached 34,000  Thankyou everyone!
