Harvest - Junior Department

Children from Year 3 led our Junior Department Harvest Service

Though it was the first time they'd done a church service, the children were very confident.

"We plough the fields and scatter...."

The theme was Water.

Another stage!

Our Coop Deck stage was so popular that the Foundation Department wanted one as well!

It's been built very quickly. Just the balustrades to finish. The roof is nearly ready.
(Lovely weather too  - look at the sky!)

Three more Olympic photos from the Ellowes Hall tournament

Our swimming team

A former Jesson's pupil leads the way as all the teams join together to parade onto the Sports field for the final event.
That's the new Ellowes Sports Hall in the background.

The weather wasn't too warm, but we all had fun

Outdoor Activites

Teams of children from Year 6 went to Ellowes Hall for the Primary School Olympics. We won several events but were just beaten overall by Straits Primary, so we came a very creditable second. Here the children wait in the brand new Sports Hall for the results.

As part of the Closing Ceremony some Sixth Formers performed a fantastic dance
More pictures to follow next week. (The Blog Lady only saw the end of the event.)

After school Mrs Stone and the team held a meeting for the children going to Astley Burf on October 3rd for our residential week

Some children were surprised to learn that there are no shops, no televisions and no mobile phones allowed. They'll have to write a post card if they want to keep in touch!

Reading and PE

Below, a Reading Buddy helps a child.
We need some more volunteers for this. Could you do it? Training will be given. Just come in and ask. Even an hour a week is valuable

Travelling is the theme for our Assemblies this half term - and it's also the theme of 2S's PE lesson today: travelling across the floor in interesting ways.

After school 2

School activites don't stop at 3.10p.m. Here are some more pictures taken on Tuesday:

Computer Club is always well attended. We have a waiting list!

It's a mixture of fun games, learning programmes and opportunities for extra study.

Below, pupils are using a maths challenge programme

Mrs Stone's class were awarded the attendance bear in Key Stage 1. Class 2S now have to choose a name for it.

A few rays of sunshine catch our peaceful garden

It's a lovely spot (the fish is a bronze sculture designed by the children when the garden was built.)

After school 1

A Tuesday after school at Jesson's....

First, the After School Club smile for the camera as they discuss their activities for the session.

Cutting and rolling? Must be Playdough in the tub then...

But first, we'll be taking advantage of the breezy sunshine

Hula hoops are fun!

Meanwhile, down the corridor, Film Club is in session. This film is Wall E

Popcorn ready for the interval.

Don't despair, we have healthy orange juice too!

First day of the new term

It was the first day of the 2011-12 school year.
Lots of excited children were going to their new classes today.

Here are two pictures from Mrs Batchelor's class, in Year 1. They've moved here from the Reception classes in the Foundation Block, so everything is new to them.

They seem to have settled quite well already. Here they are working hard on their drawings
Pictures of more classes later in the week.

The day before term starts

A new room is being created in the gap next to the Headteacher's office. It will take about three weeks to finish.

The Office staff are sorting out stock for the new Deputy Headteacher

In the Large Hall the cleaners are working hard to clean up following the fantastic refurbishment.

Miss Agrawal, new teacher in Year 3, gets a poster ready to put up.

Mr Kimberley is the new teacher in Year 4.

Labels lay waiting to be stuck on. Isn't it a great feeling to start a new book? We're going to work really hard on presentation this term.

Our new Deputy Headteacher, Mrs George, with the stock she got from the secretaries!

Best wishes to all our new teachers.
See you all tomorrow! Roadworks are mostly finished, so you should be able to get up School Street and Grange Street, and also Nelson Road, we hope. Think Russell Street might be a bit difficult though.
