Fitness for Fives

This is our Fitness for Fives Club

It is for Reception children

The plan was to go outside, but the weather stopped us.

Instead, they are inside doing music to movement. And enjoying themselves!
A blur of happy movements!

Mother's Day assembly, Class 3B

Before the Assembly starts, Mrs Batchelor puts out the equipment

The children performed a poem about mothers all over the world

The massive list of things which mothers have to do

Telling us about their mothers. Note the nursery children from the partner class at the front

3B have been practising playing percussion
Other musicians - drummer, guitarist, horn player, and three keyboard players also demonstrated their skills

Not shown: other talents, which included gymnasts

And also not shown, the look of pride and love on the faces of the mothers in the audience
Thankyou Class 3B

Year 5 at the Thinktank, Birmingham

Year 5 visited the Thinktank Museum on Tuesday

It is a museum about science

...but it also has a good playground

All the exhibits are "hands on":...

...it's the best way to learn

A packed lunch is always one of the pleasures of a school trip!

The children (and staff) enjoyed their visit, and learned a lot too, so they tell me.

At Lambeth Palace

After the service at St Paul's, there was a reception at Lambeth Palace

The rooms were rather wonderful!

The guests begin to arrive

Food is served

The Bloglady loved the corridors

There were portraits of all the Archbishops of Canterbury. This is Rowan Williams

Three bishops from the 18th Century look down on the gathering

Out in the grounds a magnolia tree begins to blossom

The main part of the palace

The gatehouse!

View to the older part

This is all you can see from the street

Back to the London Eye,...
...past Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament

This view from Westminster Bridge caused Wordsworth to write "Earth has not anything to show more fair"
Er, perhaps it was a sunnier day!

The Bloglady goes to St Paul's Cathedral

The Bloglady takes the scenic route to St Paul's - along the Thames (London Eye in the distance)

A crane lowers two men who are working on the river

On the opposite bank. Tate Modern (with chimney) and just visible, the brown and white of Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. And the Shard, of course

The best view of St Paul's is here,  from the Millenium Bridge

Tower Bridge in the distance

Cherry blossom and London bus by the Cathedral

Aha - so that's why we are here. The Consecration of the Bishop of Dudley

The dome from inside - we weren't really supposed to take pictures

After the service, Bishop Graham is congratulated by many well-wishers

You can't even see his red robes on this one - so many people!
To be continued!
