The start of Lent
Today was the start of Lent. Years 4,5 and 6 went over to St James's Church for the Lent Service, led by Year 5.
Here's the Service sheet cover:
Back in school, Year 3 children proudly display the work on their whiteboards
Their song was Never gonna give you up - by Rick Astley, with words altered to reflect the season.
Yes I'm gonna give you up,
Never gonna let you down,
Never gonna line up in the dessert queue.
(You need to sing it to get the full effect!)Back in school, Year 3 children proudly display the work on their whiteboards

Papier mache
Year 3 have been using papier mache
...to make a vessel for an animal to travel in.
This is stage 1: tearing the paper
...and making it into a big soggy mess!
Later, we hope to have pictures of the finished items
...but not yet - they will take ages to dry

Class 1S get creative
On a wet Friday afternoon, Class 1S busied themselves with scissors, scrap paper and sellotape.
A creative way to spend an afternoon...
...making masks,...
... and bags and envelopes.
Looks like a lot of fun
And we'll probably have some more wet afternoons to come!

Making pizza
Earlier in the week, the Bloglady watched some English lessons. In Year 3 the children were putting instructions (for cooking a pizza) into chronological arder. But none of them realised the oven would need to be preheated as the first job.
Mrs Batchelor decided to tackle this...
...by making pizzas with the whole group on Friday
Here are some of the results
Delicious, wouldn't you agree?
Now the children proudly know about the importance of preheating an oven!
(And what a great way to learn!)

China meets Jesson's
Year 5 studied China as a topic
So what better way to finish it than to try a taste of China?
There was lots of different food on offer - some cooked by staff
... and all delicious
A great experience
...shared by children and staff alike

Fun with English lessons
In Year 2 the children are studying riddles. Miss Moulton was absent today (!!!!) and her place was taken by the Riddler - full of mystery and questions!
In Year 1 children made clown masks to help with their letters and sounds
The children behind the masks!
The Riddler adopts a cool pose, thinking the Bloglady and her camera have disappeared
