Caterpillar cakes

Reception are doing a topic about minibeasts. 

Here they are making caterpillar cakes.

Decorating them takes concentration

They look lovely

Then they join all the cakes together to make a huge, class caterpillar on the carpet.
(Don't worry, the cakes were in their cake cases at all times!)

A Siver Medallist visits Jesson's

On Monday you saw the staff learning about "Be the Best You Can Be".

Today was the children's turn... 

Mel Clark, archer, and silver medallist in London 2012 came to tell  her story to the children

Everyone was amazed by her story. She has 17 world records, and was the first disabled archer to compete on the British team against able-bodied atheletes

Afterwards, Mel anwered questions from the children (and staff - we all wanted to know things) how she battled life-threatening illness, and how she kept going even after being told she would never be able to do archery again. The Paralympic silver medal in London 2012 proved the doctors wrong!

Mel is a truly inspirational character. We were very proud to have her at Jesson's, and we have all learnt so much from her.

She told us that she first got interested in archery when a teacher told her if she could hit a chocolate bar with an arrow she could have it!

Mrs Helen Goode

As you probably know by now, Mrs Goode, until recently a teacher at Jesson's, died over the holiday.

Here are four pictures which we've chosen to help us remember her.

She and husband Rob were married many years ago, but decided to have another wedding to renew their vows.


This birthday cake showed many things about Mrs Goode's personality - she loved her computer - and was often on Facebook. She loved travelling, and she played the violin with the staff choir at Jesson's

PS Parents - a special letter has gone home about arrangements for next Monday, which is the day of the funeral. Please read it - because we need your help to make sure staff can go and pay their respects. A copy of it will appear on the website tomorrow morning in case your child has inadvertently "lost" it!

The afternoon was about PE.

After a quick warm up, the staff brushed up their hockey skills 

Go, Mr Kimberley! A game called "race the hockey ball" was very popular.

Some of the staff were very competitive!
