Other work round school

While the children are on holiday, the school is prepared for the next term.

Painting - the corridors are all finished -

...now it's time for the stage to be repainted (black - the picture makes it look grey.)

Eagle-eyed viewers will notice that the carpet has now gone.

The steps are back to being bright white

And look at the chairs - this was previously two tiers high (and very heavy to move around)
We don't need so many chairs now we  have the new seating.

What else?
  • New rocks in the fountain.
  • New lights in the changing rooms
  • A new radiator position for our new Pastoral Room
  • and of course, the new playground/car park markings (earlier on the blog!)
And you thought that schools went to sleep over the holiday.

Look what came today

An early morning delivery

The men check with headquarters

There's plenty of stuff to unload

Here's the work in progress - a new climbing frame, this time in the "big" playground

Next Tuesday, they will add a rubber surface, and then it will be ready to use.

Exciting stuff!

Picture of the finished frame deliberately withheld!

Markings and chalk markings

Yesterday, we had some new playground markings. (They have been planned since before Christmas, but because of the weather we've had to wait)

These yellow lines are for lining up. (Above and below)
And this red line takes you from the office to the Foundation block (note the new disabled parking spot)

Meanwhile, the Craft Cafe did some playground markings of their own today.
With chalk
Still one more day of Craft Cafe left - see yesterday's post for how to join in.

Thankyou Mrs Rowlands for the photos. There are more, which will be posted later in the week.

And something else exciting is happening tomorrow - you'll have to wait and see what that is!

Wintry weather,so here's a Christmas picture!

I did not get round to putting this picture on the blog over Christmas. It's our Little Angels choir who went to the White House Cancer support centre and sang their little hearts out to the people there.

Aliens? (Year 2 Working Together)

Here are some pictures from Year 2's Working Together
The session was about reading - including using a new reading record that we are testing
 The session was well attended
We also looked at useful websites such as:
and
http://bbc.co.uk/schools/websites/4_11/literacy.shtml

(Click on the links - I think they work, says the Bloglady)
The craft activity was to make aliens...
 ...which was great fun...
 ...and prduced some good results
At the end there was a line up of all the aliens (and parents and children!) and Mr Welch gave out Cadbury's Creme Eggs for the best.

Well done to everyone!

These activities are so much fun. Children love working with their special adult, so....
