Dennis returns

An exciting day on Friday!
Dennis the bus returned to Jesson's following his refit.
Getting him back was a complicated operation as these pictures show

Reversing into position

Mr Shackleton watches progress ready to decide about how we will run our playtime

The truck was massive

Waiting to put out the barriers

Almost in place

The Landrover bringing specially made supports (so Dennis doesn't sink into the playground!)

Some of the vehicles: there were more round the side

The front was taken off for towing

Preparing to lift Dennis onto the supports (he can still be driven, but he will be parked for some time)

It was a tricky job

The playground was a hub of activity

 The electrician connects the cable

Putting in a new fusebox inside the building
Mr Jackson makes some last minute checks

The workmen pose for a photograph. Job done. The job took over three hours altogether

What about inside?
Aha, we're not going to show you that till the children have seen it!

Talents

Class 6A's assembly was all about talents, and what we do with them - they worked with their partner class, 2M and we saw:...
dancers,

hula hoopers,

pointillist painters,

acrobats,

musicians,

unicycling teachers, (there were also jugglers, not caught on film)

comedians,

singers,

sportspeople, (and the commentator)

actors,

and more musicians.
What a talented set of children.
And if that seems like a lot - some of the other pictures didn't even come out. (Sorry!)

Worcester Cathedral. Year 4 trip

Every year, children in Year 4 visit Worcester Cathedral. It's our Diocesan Church, and it's also part of our study of places of worship.

Looking at the King's tomb

Making a prayer stone
Wow - this ceiling is wonderful!

There was so much to see and learn

The guides said our children were very knowledgeable (of course!)

A good place to take notes

Looking at the cathedra - the chair which shows this is a cathedral

Posing for a photo in the cloisters

Class 4G investigated which liquid was best at reducing the amount of friction between 2 surfaces.

They tested water, oil and ketchup...

...so it was quite a smelly classroom.

The children were very careful with their recording.
They found that oil was best.

Open Day - poetry in Year 5

Year 5 poets wrote their own versions of classic children's poems:

"In my magic box" by Kit Wright

And, "what shall we do with the grumpy teacher?" by Allan Ahlberg
Above, plan for the poem.
Below, the writing begins
