Numbers, numbers, numbers - Reception Working Together
The workshop was about maths.
There's a list of the activities at the end - see if you can spot them as you look at the pictures!
(Below, we had such a great turn out, that some parents had to go over to foundation to continue with the activities over there.)
Activities included:
- making number fans
- snakes and ladders
- number formation with play dough
- writing sums and numbers in flour
- using number lines and ordering numbers on white boards
- colouring by number
- exploring sand and water- finding ladybirds, counting the spots and matching them to the correct number flashcard.
- exploring a wide range of maths resources that we use with the children.
- number bingo.
Did you spot them all? (The Bloglady managed 7! But I might have cheated a little)

A watery experience - Nursery Working Together
These are pictures from last week's working Together (19th April)
The theme was water.
This is bubble printing; the children had to blow into the cups to create bubbles (NOT suck the paint up the straw)!
There was a magnetic fishing game to make which required a lot of cutting out.
You only have to look at the faces to see how worthwhile it was!
There was a record attendance by families
Concentration is a hugely important skill for children to develop.

Also:
- Mrs Rowlands demonstrated making cooked playdough; there was a recipe to take home.
- Mrs Mann showed the parents how to make a box to keep all the bits in. There was lots of folding involved.
- There were lots of books to read and parents could take home guidance on how to read a book with a child.

A royal visit
Henry VIII visited Year 3 on Wednesday
(Bringing his own powerpoint display)
...dressed in Tudor clothes
and finished with a masked ball
A great way to learn about a period of history
(Blog in royal purple in honour of the visit)

A new arrival
The cone hides an electricity supply to the playground, ready for our newest addition.
Grange Road is very quiet...
.... a bus...
....heading towards us....
... drives into the playground
Yes, it's Dennis, our bus!
The men from Lister Road, who drove it here
Excited Year 6 children go out to take a look
This is an unusual classroom
The top deck is the most popular (obviously!)
There's lots to look at
Trying out the seats
Our next job is to give it a good clean and then to fit it out ready to use.
What an exciting arrival!

A final farewell
It was very quiet at school today.
Many children stayed at home all day: some went at 11 o'clock
Here's the church at Trysull where most of the staff were.
Some riders pass by, unaware of the sad event soon to take place
The door to the church - the last time the Bloglady was here, she took some pictures of Mr and Mrs Goode renewing their vows.
The programme for the funeral of a very brave lady.
The staff would like to say a big thankyou to all the parents and families who helped make it possible for so many of us to attend.
We really appreciate your kindness.
