Penalty Shootout!

The School Council arranged a Penalty Shoot out, in aid of Guide Dogs for the Blind
Mr Seager waits in goal.

Still waiting. The tension mounts!

Here they come. Shots at the goal

Shall I save that one, sir?

Take that!

And that!

Really going for it.

"I know the result!!!"

Visitors from Germany

Today, the Bishop of Magdeburg came with a delegation, to visit Jesson's. She wanted to see what an English church school was like

The visitors left us some presents - Below, some music and a CD "Alles hat seine zeit" (Everyone has their time, I think)

..and some story books Einer hilft (the Good Samaritan) and Noah.

The Bloglady liked this book. It's for trouser pockets, because you can wash it

Pictures from inside - the boy Jesus at the Temple (next week's assembly story)

...and Joseph in the pit, thrown there by his brothers.
It was good to look at things from someone else's viewpoint.
The visitors stayed far longer than they meant to, and seemed very impressed with the school, the children and the children's behaviour.
And of course, they loved it when Jubilate did a quick performance (not planned or practised in advance, but our children coped magnificently!)

Dramatic goings on!

Mrs George's Y3 English group...

...dramatising Jungle Book...

... in the Small Hall. Scary faces!

A most enjoyable lesson.

The Pastoral Team

Just before Christmas (you can see by the decorations) the Bloglady took these pictures of the Pastoral Team hard at work
Below Mrs Leader (half shown, sorry!), Mrs Anslow, Mrs Rowley, Mrs Farrell,...

...Mrs George, Mrs Sharma, Mrs Mann, Mrs Rowlands...

... and Mr Shackleton, who chairs the group.
Our Pastoral Team are outstanding, as you will know if you have ever called on their services. We have many children who have made massive progress following their intervention.

2M's assembly - with their partner class 6A

All about the New Year and how we can make it happy
Classes 2M and 6A join in the hymn

2M do a fabulous dance about Nelson Mandela

They finish with "Sing" by Gary Barlow - making the world a happier place
Lovely to see children from different classes working so well together
And a special thankyou to 2M who stepped in at the last minute to fill this assembly slot.

Y4 go to the Hippodrome

Lots of pictures
An excited audience

Waiting for the show to begin

The teachers always enjoy this trip too.

The show starts, and some of children are called onto the stage to help (but the lights are a bit bright!!!)

A clearer shot

Afterwards, the helpers got presents (including a monkey!)

The set, costumes and effects were amazing

BUT.... there were holdups in the traffic. It took more than two hours for the transport to get back to school
Luckily a kind headteacher let the parents in to sit in the warm hall

...rather than stand in the freezing rain!

Parents were very patient - and well-behaved!

Eventually the children returned
The verdict:
It was the best pantomime I've ever seen. I'd go on my own to see it - and I don't usually like them.  Mr Jackson

Excellent comedy moments. I couldn't stop laughing.   Mrs Fowler

I'm really getting into these pantomimes.    Mr Anfous (He went last week with Year 3 as well)

I was laughing louder than the children - quite embarrassing!   Miss Garrett

Our children on stage was the highlight of the whole thing - I wish their parents could have seen them. The children will remember it for ever.    Miss Comrie

It was quite good.    Mr Hayward

All aboard the bus!

Dennis the bus is ready to use for lessons

Some Year 5 children try it out

Verdict? Warm, cosy - and we love it, Miss!
