Inter-schools cross country, Baggeridge

Just after 9a.m. and the car says it's 4 degrees Centigrade outside

The bandstand at Baggeridge provides some shelter from the misty (cold) rain.

The Jesson's Cross Country team meet up. Many of them (staff and children) were at the Town Hall till 10pm last night.

Last minute team briefing
(there's always one person more interested in smiling for the camera!)

Below, discussing the route - in our lovely new kit (thankyou to Mr Oakes from the school outfitters for donating this)

The girls line up at the (muddy) start

Jesson's first girl back - she was asked to represent Dudley in the Black Country Cross Country event in a fortnight. Well done!!!!!!

The faces of fatigue!

The mud made it very tiring.

Thinks: "Next time Mr Seager asks me to do this, I'm going to stay in bed in the warm!"

A girl from another school lost her shoe in the mud halfway round but carried on running!

Afterwards, the teams await the results.

We weren't in the top three but never mind - it was a memorable experience.

And we brought back lots of mud as a souvenir -
 on legs, clothes...

...and of course, faces.

Thankyou to the staff who went  - Mr Seager, Miss Garratt and Miss Johnstone (who was our official), and to all the parents who supported their children.
(And get well soon to poor Miss Robb, who's never missed a cross country before)

Three coffees later, the Bloglady is finally warm.

Exciting times

On Wednesday, children were working hard counting out programmes for our Schools' Festival, Vivo
Each choir gets a set of programmes to keep, to remember their day singing at the Town Hall.
Here's Mrs Stone steam-cleaning the choir costumes. Look at the steam on the windows and the ceiling.
Thursday morning's comperes

Thursday evening (hence the late blog) two children got through to the final round of the Ellowes Talent Contest.
This is Naomi, who was placed third

And the blur is Jaheim dancing energetically, narrowly missing a top placing.
Excellence all round from Jesson's.

Vivo Concert at the Town Hall tomorrow: 7pm. Vocalize and Jubilate choirs from Jesson's plus Fusion, Dudley's biggest Rock Choir.
Come and support your school - and help us raise money for Comic Relief at the same time.
Some tickets available on the door: £4

Cadbury World

Three pictures from Year 3's trip to Cadbury World.

This is always an exciting trip

As well as the displays, there is a giant adventure playground.

This allows the children to burn off the calories from the free chocolate on offer.
This blog is brought to you today in Cadbury purple.

Intrepid staff...

You may have seen pictures of last week's training day for staff.
Well, while the other staff were studying Literacy, Mrs Stone and Mr Jackson went to Astley Burf to be trained in the use of the new high ropes course there.

It is quite high up; these pictures are a bit deceptive.
Some skill is required

Mrs Stone has caught up the person in front of her, and so has to wait

Doing this course means the teachers are trained to teach children on the equipment

We are booking next year's visit to Astley Burf soon. Year 6 children can go.
This will be a new and exciting addition to the week
"I can't wait to have a go!!!!" says the Bloglady

A special day

All the Reception children went outside.

The playtime equipment was ready for the "official opening"

Mr Jackson cut the ribbon

And then it was time for the children to play!!!
And the sun (a very rare visitor) came out.
Fantastic fun. The children love it already.

Lilies?

Strange things have been happening in Year 6.
A classroom was covered in lilypads.

Hats? Other items of clothing?
Aha, no. It was an introduction to their next literacy topic.

An intriguing beginning. We hope to see some of the finished work soon.

This blogpost was brought to you in lilypad green font.

A messy afternoon!

As part of year 5's topic on India, they made coil pots.
Most enjoyable....
...if somewhat messy.
The results were very pleasing

Well done Year 5!
