The Easter story, by Year 1

Year 1 took the Easter service for the younger children

Judas betraying Jesus
The crown of thorns
The women wait in the garden
The resurrection complete - now three soloists start singing "How great is our God"
Father Andrew thanks the children and does a blessing

A joyful singing of the final song
 Happy Easter everyone

Y3 tell the Easter story

The pavements were so bad we couldn't go to church for this year's Key Stage 2 Easter service.

We held it at school instead.
Only three school days after their production, Year 3 took the whole service
The musicians helped as usual. (They like their new place  - out of the limelight!)
The final song was "Thankyou for loving me" (originally by Bon Jovi, but very appropriate)
It was a lovely start to the last day of term

More from the Easter Bonnets

No comments necessary.

Just talented parents and lovely children.

What a spectacle.

In my Easter bonnet....

The parents waited expectantly...
Mrs George introduced it...

The judges were in position...

And it began... Our Easter Bonnet parade
Some children were more excited than others....

There was definitely a child under there somewhere

Last minute touches in the corridor before gracing the stage

What will the judges think?

Beautiful, all of them

More pictures to follow (the Bloglady took 187! - But I promise not to put them all on!)

Reminders + announcement

Wednesday is Easter Bonnets for Nursery, Reception, Years 1 and 2.

For Years 3,4,5 and 6 children can bring in decorated Easter Cakes
(this year they aren't going to be sold off, so you will get them back!)

And on Thursday, Year 3's Easter Service will be at 9.15 in school
(not at the church - dangerous pavements - you may have noticed!)

Year 1's service will be in school too, at around 10.20

All are welcome to these services, whether you have a child in the year -group or not

NB Easter colours for this post! A little startling; I may not use them again!

School will be
open as normal tomorrow (Tuesday)

Thanks to the fantastic staff working party today.

STOP PRESS: Year 4 trip to museum cancelled. Pavements too dangerous to walk there. We'll rearrange for after the holiday

Jubilate will be on after school
No Fusion Choir in the evening

Pictures from the working party:

Starting with the staff car park

The scene in the Quadrangle - from outside the Bloglady's office. Snow up to the windows

Compare it with the same view taken on Friday (below). The snow on the picnic tables was 5" (13cm) then

The black blob is the tyre stack in the bottom playground. Totally covered by snow.

The steps up to Year 2 entrance. You can't really make them out!

Clearing a path for Year 1 took quite a time

Clearing a way to the Year 3 door

Miss Agrawal can't resist standing on this waist high pile of snow by the entrance

My grateful thanks to all the staff. A fantastic effort.

A lot of snow!

Please note -
school will be closed tomorrow (Monday)

The photos below show why.

The staff will come in and clear the snow so we should be able to open on Tuesday as normal

These pictures show the depth of snow measured with a 14 inch shovel (35cm). You can't even see it!
Year 3 door
The path to the door
Year 2 line up here!
Just as bad in the Foundation Block

 Year 1 entrance
Year 3 classroom  - snow up to the windows!
Sorry, everyone, but a decision had to be made. There's no way that we can clear all this in time for tomorrow.
I hope the early notice of closure is helpful.
You know we really hate to do it - and we had such great work planned for this week - RE focus week.
Meanwhile - make those Easter Bonnets! (Reception, Nursery, Year 1 and 2)

Fleeced!

Years 3 and 4 did their production of Fleeced last night (Thursday).
It was the tale of Jason and the Argonauts.

As usual, the Bloglady couldn't really get pictures of the action, but below you can see Jason's triumphant return having found the Golden Fleece

Mr Mitchell found a fantastic new helper to operate the powerpoint slides
(and Years 1 and 2 have bagged him for their summer production already!)

We tried a new system at the end: the parents waited in the (warm) hall....
... until their children came back from getting changed. They walked across the stage, so their parents could see they were ready to go home.
(What did you think about that, parents? Let us know)

The production was a real triumph - the children sang their hearts out - and we were very proud of them
