Year 5 Cooking

Year 5 cooked with Mrs Sharma this week making Chapattis, Raita with cucumber and yoghurt, mint salad dip, pakoras and poppadums.

Some children made the chapattis - its a challenge to get them round with the rolling pin! Other children prepared the dips by grating cucumber and chopping other vegetables. To make the Pakoras,  children  cut up cabbage, onion, cauliflower, aubergine and potato into small pieces either with a knife or with scissors, then these were mixed with a batter made from Gram flour and some spices. The pakoras  were then cooked by Mrs Sharma who was cooking the chapattis and the poppadums at the same time!

When the food was ready each class had a tasting experience in their classroom - it was generally agreed that it was delicious food - big thank you to Mrs Sharma assisted by Mrs Gill, Miss Glover and Mrs Rowlands .

Year 5 Working Together Friday 13th March 2015

For Year 5 working together, the theme was Maths, the parents had to do a mental maths test, like their children would do at school.

The children joined them and took part in a range of maths related activities including adapting a recipe for a mixed fruit drink then working out the quantities to make one serving - which they then made and enjoyed!

On Friday 13th March 2015 it was Comic Relief Day, and also Reception Red assembly. With their partner class 4R, Reception Red told us jokes and did a silly dance for comic relief, the Macarena.
