Parents and Child Maths Awards

On Wednesdays we run sessions for Year 1 parents and children, based mainly on maths

Those parents and children who have attended regularly were invited to a special assembly...

...to receive their certificates together

There were lots to present...

...and some very proud families.

A birds' eye view

Mrs George is sitting next to Mrs Dyson, who has been running the sessions. (You may have seen pictures of her retirement)

Everyone had a good time
The sessions are set to continue next year, don't worry. What Mrs Dyson did was so good, we don't want to lose it!

Year 2 Book quiz

Year 2 children had to read some books.
Then they were put in teams..

...to answer questions...

 ...set by Dudley Library Service

Centre, the lady from the Library service
PS Don't worry, your eyes have not gone funny (top pictures) : I deliberately disguised the children's names. Not a good thing to tell strangers what children are called! (I know you're not a stranger, dear Blog-reader, but you never know!)

Reception farewell party

It wasn't only Year 6 who had a big party. Reception children are also facing a big transition...

...from the Foundation unit, to "big school" in Year 1.

The party was on a very hot day

...so the shade under the trees was very welcome

Happy children on a happy day
Some of the food left - even after the children had eaten lots!
No party is complete without a big clean up afterwards

Bouncy castle and other things

Year 6 had a Leavers' Party, which included bouncy castles

...and padded suits, ...

...plus foam battering rams!

Oh dear, Mr Shackleton, wasn't this supposed to be for the children?

Oh, apparently not, Miss Agrawal and Miss MacKnight!

Adjusting the foam headgear

I think the shoulders are wider than she is!

Lots of fun for everyone
See, I don't even need a muscle suit!
More tomorrow. Blog will continue throughout the holiday.

Goodbye Year 6 - the Leavers' service

Year 6 led the Leavers' Service in church today, their very last day of primary school.
Here, they are sharing some of their memories

They sang a lovely song called "Wherever you go"

This is Mr Shackleton's view of the singing

Afterwards, some children were a little moved.

Children from Jesson's go to many different secondary schools, and for some it would be the last time they saw their friends for a long while.
(The Bloglady felt a bit the same!)

More pictures tomorrow - and right through the holiday period

Goodbye Mrs Dyson

It was Mrs Dyson's last day in school today.

She is retiring

Most of our readers will know her for her fantastic work on maths and maths games...

...usually called Maths with a Purpose.
Best wishes for the future, Mrs Dyson, and thankyou for all you have done for the children of Jesson's
