Our wonderful staff - part 3

At Astley Burf, you saw the children: now,for the staff:
These staff were there all week (24 hours a day!)
Mrs Stone, trip leader

Mrs Anslow at Witley Court

Mr Hayward by Witley Fountain

Mr Jackson mends Mrs Stone's teddy (!)

The Bloglady and her tent

All week, Miss Agrawal tried to dodge being photographed.
Dedicated staff, I'm sure you will agree.

But what about these? Teaching a full day at Jesson's and then coming over in the evening.
Miss Barker
 Mrs Fellows
 Mrs George
 Miss McKnight
 Mr Seager
 Mr Shackleton
And, not pictured (sorry!) Mr Kimberley, Mrs Shackleton, Mrs Robottom and Mr Holmes.

I wonder how many schools have staff who give so freely of their time?

Thanks to all of them

And Miss Agrawal didn't get away without being photographed. Tired after a busy week away!!!!

Our wonderful staff - part 2

Most weeks we run Working Together for parents and children.
This week was Year 5's turn. Parents and children worked on mental maths

The sessions are a lot of extra work for the staff, but they do it willingly, because they know it helps our children.
Here you can see Mrs Fellows(above) and Miss Barker (below)
What you can't see are the other Year 5 staff who also contribute by teaching the rest of the year group, with two teachers out.

And of course, people like Mrs Rowlands from the Pastoral team, who help things go smoothly.

This week, it was Year 5, but every week different teachers do the same.

Thankyou, our wonderful staff!

PS: the other photos from Working Together will be on the blog over half term!

Our wonderful staff - part 1

We have lots of pictures of children.

Now,time for the staff to take a bow

Here they are on Tuesday night. The photograph was taken at 4.30.
The staff staff stayed till 8.30 (yes, 8.30 pm)
It was a staff training evening. Five solid hours after a full day at school.
All to make sure children to have an even better learning environment.
Thankyou, staff. Above and beyond the call of duty, some might say!

Class 6S's assembly - on words and poetry

Class 6S did an assembly in rhyme. The hymn was number 525 - from the tiny ant, to the elephant (on Tuesday's blog you saw children learning it )

When Mrs Robottom was younger, she got a Blue Peter badge for a poem she wrote

Below, the song was "Tonight, I'm gonna have myself a really good rhyme" (with apologies to Queen!)

Class 2S did a rhyme about jungle animals, full of onomatopaeia

The whole thing was about words and poetry

They  showed a rap video they had made "It's like that - and that's the way it is!" (We also saw the out-takes, in which members of staff tripped up - most amusingly)
A great start to a dark and cold Friday morning!

Snaps from full school assembly

First the whole school learnt "from the tiny ant" - a song about the natural world, which we haven't sung for a long time. We need it for Class 6S's assembly on Friday.

Rhianne brought in her achievement folder - it had certificates from school for attendance, reading and achievement, but also had ones from outside school too. The latest is for swimming 200m. Well done Rhianne! (Perhaps other parents might like to copy the idea of keeping things in a folder like this?)

Three classes with full attendance this week Class 2W are here receiving the attendance dog to keep for the week.

Reception choir visit 1

One of our Reception choirs visited a local nursery today. Here they are doing the Dingle Dangle Scarecrow
"When all the flowers were sleeping, and the sun had gone to bed...."

Afterwards the Nursery gave us a lovely thankyou card
More choirs will be going out later in the week, and I hope to get more pictures
We can't show you pictures of the children from nurseries without their parents' permission, unfortunately
