More from Astley Burf

Wednesday was activity day.
Getting ready for the mountain bike trail.

Mr Kimberley gets ready to lead the way.
(See the climbing wall in the background)

This is quite tough.
(Archery in the background)

Even tougher nearer the top

Been round the course once and feeling good!

A scarecrow's view of the site

Inside, a group construct ballistas - a large Roman catapult used in warfare
(Mrs Stone is a blur of action in the background!)

It's quite careful work

The finished results are very pleasing

The water bottle leans forward to watch what's happening.

Witley Court continued... and back at camp.

Inside Witley Church, Mr Kimberley takes a picture

What an amazing church - but we are quite tired!

By the altar

By the one of the painted enamel windows (it's not stained glass apparently)

Back at the Court we sit in the sunshine, waiting....

waiting....

and suddenly the fountain starts. Wow!

Hmmm, got a bit wet there!

On the way back we collected conkers

This was the best tree for them

Back at camp.
Three girls are sleeping in a tent

The others are in dormitories (surprisingly tidy!)

Look how neatly the shoes are arranged

Astley Burf residential visit

The computer system at Astley Burf won't take our photos, so the blog lady has nipped home (and missed her evening meal) to post these.

Arriving at Astley Burf and being briefed by the warden, Mr Lissiter.

Monday afternoon's walk, watched by a small gey pony

Someone thought the stepping stones were a bit scary!

Why cross the bridge in a normal way when this way is more fun?

Each hut has a scarecrow outside - and I haven't seen any crows so it must be working

Waiting to find out which table goes first for breakfast

On the five mile walk to Witley Court we stopped for a fruit break

Mr Jackson's group stopped to try some wild blackberries

At Witley Court we heard the story of great riches and a fire

This is just like Downton Abbey

A sunny day in Reception

The weather has been very hot recently, and our Reception children have been enjoying working in the sunshine
Look at our latest addition to the outdoor area!
A sandpit! Mrs George and Mr Cunningham discuss how much sand we'll be needing.
(Note the roof ready for the stage in the background)
Water investigations

Building a house for the gingerbread man.
Baking our own gingerbread men. Yum!

A wedding

Mr Hayward, who is our school drummer, got married on Saturday.
The wedding car was a bit unusual
but very attractive. We wish the couple a long and happy marriage
Meanwhile, a field near Astley Burf sits quietly in the early morning sun. We'll be there tomorrow!

Harvest part 2

The harvest theme for the Infants was food from around the world

Here, the pizza delivery boy explains that the pizza is made up of food from many different countries

An action shot of the harvest dance

Later, the food was put out for sale...

... in aid of the National Children's Society

Colourful packets of food from around the world

The jars and tins.
In the background, our new blue hall chairs take up much less space than the old ones.
