Might you be interested?

We had this letter from Ellowes Hall Sports College.
Their productions are fantastic (last year's Phantom of the Opera received glowing reviews, and even re-ran in the Spring, due to popular demand)
If you are interested please contact them on the email below.

As a school which specialises in the Performing Arts, surely Jesson's has a child somewhere who would love to do this!

Junior Awards Evening 1

A glittering Awards Evening was held on the last Tuesday of term, to celebrate some fantastic achievements, largely by our Year 6 children. Here are some of the main award winners. More tomorrow

Oh dear! Rain!

It's hard to see the cleaners. Very murky.
That's because the lights have gone out.
 Mr Rowbottom surveys the damage
A bucket is put under the dripping light fitting
And the roofers are called in to do a repair!

Another retirement!

On the last day of term we also said goodbye to Mrs Cox.
We bought her this water feature for her garden

And these flowers

Mrs Cox worked at Jesson's straight from leaving teacher training college.
She says she never felt like going anywhere else, as she loved the children and parents.
(She actually taught many of our current parents)

Here she is with two of her daughters, Beverley and Alison, who also went to Jesson's.
(Daughter Jenny - also from Jesson's - is taking the picture)
Thank you for your years of service: have a long and happy retirement!

Staff who are leaving

Some staff are retiring. Above, Mrs Ahmed. Below, Mrs Gibbins. We thank them both for their years of service to the children of Jesson's

Miss Robb is taking a year to travel the world, but will be back after that. Happy travelling, Miss Robb!

Miss Loverock is moving to London for a new job.

Miss Johnstone is moving to work in Manchester.

Thanks go to all of these staff for their contribution to life at  Jesson's: teaching, organising trips and activities, doing assemblies and performances, parent workshops, running clubs, and getting great work from our children.
We'll miss you all.

Leavers' party

After looking so smart in the church (see blog two days ago) the Year 6 children turned their shirts into souvenirs!

There were two bouncy castles...

 ... and some Superman suits!

Our children go to many different secondary schools, so this day was a really special and memorable way to say goodbye.
We wish all of them a happy future, and lots of new friendships.

The things you don't see!

The first day of the holidays:
we had a sort out of the maths equipment

It was all piled in the small hall so we could see what we had, and what we still need more of

Mrs George sorting out the new reading scheme

Empty boxes from the reading scheme!

New grammar books have all been stamped ready for use in September

The Leavers' Service at St James's Church

We arrived at church to realise we had no stand for the piano. Mr Hayward tried out one solution!
Mrs Robottom brought us a stand from school!

Waiting for the service to start

Year 6 in their usual side aisle

Jubilate sang Sweet Child of Mine

Year 6 sang My Tray - loosely based on "My Way"

Year 6 wait for the final prayer

Some were happy

Others felt a little sad
Keep watching : the blog will be updated most days during the holiday.
  • See what happened in the last week of term
  • See pictures from earlier in the school year
  • See the staff who are leaving
  • Find out what the staff do in the holidays!

Happy holiday to everyone!

Extra non uniform day

In case you missed it, children may wear their own clothes for no charge tomorrow *- as a gesture of thanks that they have been to school in such a big heatwave, and have all still managed to look smart.

But please wear full school uniform on Wednesday please. Key Stage 2 are in the church for the Leavers' Service, and we want everyone to look at their best for that.

* Shorts and tee shirts are quite acceptable. We'd just like children to feel cool for the day!

Full attenders at Alton Towers

The full attenders go to Alton Towers

A dull start to the day, with lots of cloud as we queue to get our tickets

Looking over the bridge at the Rapids, which is our next ride

In the line for the Runaway Mine train, the carriages hurtle through the trees above us

The Hex ride has a ghostly setting. My flash illuminated the darkness

Miss Johnstone looks like one of the ghosts!
A food stop. These boys still had some food left at 3 pm. The rest had eaten theirs long before that.

Buying colourful sweets in the shop.
In the station for the train journey back to the coach

We took up most of the train

Children from Jesson's were everywhere.
A great day out. Well done to all
