Jesson's Recorder Festival and clearing up time!

Friday Morning
241 Dudley schoolchildren and 41 staff came to Jesson's to take part in our Recorder Festival
Here's Miss Jones from Dudley Performing Arts starting it all off.

You may recognise one of the band - Mr Hayward on the drums, of course

Below, Miss Pennycook does a session. We aren't able to take photos of children from other schools! (Except from behind.)

A fabulous morning of recorders. Thanks go to Mrs Robottom and Mrs Rowley who took on the organisation of it all.
And thanks to Dudley Performing Arts for the workshops

Saturday morning.
The field is cleared of gazebos - staff got here at 8.30 after Friday's JessFest
The men begin to dismantle the marquee

And life goes back to normal: the badger goes about his business after a noisy night

What a fantastic Friday. Thankyou to everyone who helped - to all the staff who came back to help, as well as those who performed. We aim to make our part of Dudley proud. And I think we succeeded.

"Yes, but don't do it too often", says the badger., grumpily

JessFest - the evening

Friday night came, accompanied by some heavy showers. We couldn't get the whole audience in the marquee, so it was a truly "Glastonbury" performance!

Below, a few of the ladies from Fusion Rock Choir

Mrs Roden, conductor, introduces the next song

The bar staff had a great time. Mr Holmes and his merry band! Mrs Mann, Miss Agrawal, Mrs Maddison and (hiding) Mrs Rowson.

Below, Jubilate and Fusion performing - you can see the size of the stage!

Luke Millard - who played the Phantom of the Opera in the Ellowes Hall production earlier in the year, but here just getting ready to sing "Human", by the Killers - one of the Bloglady's favourite songs

Mr Kimberley getting ready to conduct "Valerie"

Miss Hebron, the other conductor of "Vocalize", with Miss Loverock and Miss Nuttall

"Ain't got no Troubles in my Life!!"

I Predict a Riottttt!

Mrs Stone has a go at one of the Jubilate dances!

 * before they sang, obviously
Angels - AND THROUGH IT ALL, THEY OFFERED US PERFECTION!!!!

What a fantastic night.
More of the morning's recorder festival tomorrow, I hope.

"We specialise in the performing arts"

The marquee going up for Friday's JessFest

And inside, children in Years 1 and 2 perform "Pole to Pole"
... a trip around the world
 ...in a hot air balloon...
..piloted by tap-dancing penguins (what else?)
Just a few quick pictures for now
These children are from America, of course, and they performed a stirring version of the Star Spangled Banner"

It was a really lovely evening.
Why not join us at JessFest tomorrow evening? Fusion, our adult rock choir, plus Jubilate and Vocalize, plus dancers and soloists. Tickets £4 - bring your own chairs. Bar available - no bottles or cans allowed, as it's a school playing field! (Drinks will be in plastic glasses.)

Knowing you'll be able to eat your work at the end of the lesson makes it even more worthwhile

The last Governors Meeting of the school year.

Our Governors are a very hardworking bunch.
They sat for two and a half hours tonight, discussing such things as finance, standards, and next year's priorities...
...as well as which courses they should (voluntarily) attend in the evenings to ensure they are up to date with the latest legislation.
And just for once they had some strawberries to help them It's the first time they have had them - but since they are all volunteers and get no pay of any kind for the hours they put in... I think they deserve them!

They also discussed the 14-page head's report
A big vote of thanks to the governors for all they do.

And also, pictures from Kenilworth Castle

That grass is so long the children are almost hidden

A demonstration of the wonderful jewellery which can be made with Hula Hoops!
(It just has to be done!)
