After our two Harvest Services, the food was gathered up ready to sell
We had a lot this year
Boxes full of tins
The Friends of Jesson's ran the sale - in their new "FoJ" teeshirts
Some children helped.
The stalls were well-stocked.
All the money raised will go to the Children's Society. It's good to help others

Infant Harvest service
Here are Year 2 are getting ready to lead the Infant Harvest Service.
Here is Maximus Mouse, who lives in a church
Children from Reception came over to watch. You can see some parents in the background too.
The mice listened to the vicar telling them that the harvest was for all to share.
And they also liked the line "All creatures great and small" in the hymn, because they knew it meant them!

Harvest - Key Stage 2
Children from years 3-6 went to church today to celebrate our Harvest Festival
This included lively versions of traditional hymns such as:
We Plough the Fields and Scatter
and
All Things Bright and Beautiful.
Below, staff gather up the food, ready to take it back to school for our sale.
As well as the more usual tins, children brought some lovely boxes
We'll try to get pictures of the actual service next time!
It was a lovely service! Well done Year 5 - I particularly liked your singing of Food Glorious Food!
More pictures tomorrow, this time from Key Stage 1
And on Sunday, pictures of the sale

Bottles and flowers
Above, we're collecting large plastic bottles for some science work at Astley Burf (our residential camp, which happens next week). If you can help, we'd appreciate it!

What do the staff do at the weekend?
It was the Race for Life today - and lots of staff took part under the name of Jesson's Jewels.
We started with a Zumba-style warm-up...
...which was lots of fun.
I like Mrs Stone's tiara!
There's a burger stall in the background - but we'llgo there later walk right past it because we'll be eating healthily afterwards!
(Thanks for the pictures, Mrs Jackson)
Then we took a short rest before the start.
And here we are at the finish!
Mrs Fellows had some help over the finish line - whether she needed it or not!
Mrs Stone was very happy to see the finish line!
Miss McKnight said "never again!", - and then ten minutes later started thinking about next year!
We all ran for different reasons
Mrs George made her own tutu!
We had lots of supporters! (Their mum ran too)
Mrs Shackleton finished, complete with her umbrella (not needed, luckily!)
Well done to everyone who took part - you were a credit to the school - and a credit to yourselves!

Olympics - a reminder of a great summer
The prize winners of our Olympic Project competition were announced today.
Instead of one winner per year group, as we planned, we had THREE winners per year group - because the standard was so good.
Everyone received a beautiful, specially printed certificate, and the winners got a dictionary, pencil case or stationery set - depending on age.
We were very impressed with the entries.
Meanwhile here's a reminder of the day an Olympic torch came to school...
Look back a few days on the blog, and you'll see what the certificates looked like.
