The engine room of the school?

Have you ever wondered how we get such fantastic displays?
Here are some of our Teaching Assistants in their secret kingdom!
Cutting out pictures for the Aztec topic
Adding glitter to a beautifully texteured moon (without spilling it, Mr Welch!!!! - See earlier blog post)
Cutting out a diagram of a tooth
The brightly coloured paper lies ready for use
We don't use much powder paint these days - the ready mixed type is much easier!

Reception Yellow do ICT

Reception Yellow love their weekly sessions in the ICT suite

Although some of them prefer posing for photographs!

The children wearing headphones were singing/reading along to this song

Some children were so absorbed that they didn't even notice the camera

Community Service, and dry hair

Our local Police came in to present two awards for contribution to our school community

As well as the certificates, there were badges. Well done girls!
Year 3 swimmers try out the new hairdryers...
 ...suggested by a parent.

Why didn't we think of that? Thanks anyway: it was an excellent idea!

Props, tennis and ooops!

A parent working party making props for our production of Troy Story

Kia came in to see us. She's now at a boarding school for tennis. She trains and plays for five hours a day  - is she the Venus Williams of the future?

Oh dear Mr Welch, trying to put all that glitter on your display didn't go quite as well as you hoped!
PS I also missed taking a picture of Mrs Shackleton serving lunch - they were short staffed, so her colleaues volunteered her services!

Chinese New Year: class 1K's assembly

1K's Class Assembly was about the Chinese New Year. Here's part of the dragon dance
The assembly was magical to watch but the dim lighting made photographing almost impossible
Back in class with their costumes and animal masks

Of shields and cows

You saw pictures of them being made, so I thought you'd like to see some of the finished Year 4 shields.
Parents and children really enjoyed working together on them
We had almost 100 parents at Working Together session last week
We publish the dates well in advance so working parents can put it in their diary - or send an aunt, uncle, granny or grandpa instead
And we've got a session this Friday for anyone who'd like to come and make props for the concert.
No particular skills needed, just turn up!

And here are three more pictures of our Send a Cow appeal. You might have seen us in the paper earlier in the week

Year 3 learn some songs

Last week you saw the shields being made. Now children are starting to learn the songs for their production.
Miss Agrawal points out the words on the screen
By the end, the children will know them all by heart
They really enjoy their singing

Faces: Year 6's art work takes shape

Year 6 are part of a national project on portraits. Here's some work in progress...
.... based on Picasso.
This one is Mr Seager's. It's good when the teachers get involved too
More on this next week

Chocolate art

Year 4 are studying chocolate and the Aztecs.
Here are some fantastic paintings:
The proud artist stands in front of his work

This one was even better before water was spilled on it!

But the artist is trying to put it right again!

Ah, the joys of a crowded classroom!

Happy (Chinese) New Year

It's the Chinese New Year today. Lots of classes have been studying it. Here's a fantastic dragon from Class 2W...
..hanging from the ceiling and breathing fire.
What a fantastic use for all those takeaway coffee cups, Mr Welch!

 Fantastic work! Well done!!!
